The 566th Air Force Band, The Air National Guard Band of the Midwest, along with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, are committed partners in Music Education. Actively visible as ambassadors for music students and educators alike, the band regularly performs at venues such as The Midwest Clinic, the IMEA All-State Conference, Sousa Fest, the Metamora, Metro Suburban, and Midwest Music Festivals, the Mundelein Jazz Festival, and a number of outreach tours. Conductors for the group are Major Bryan Miller and Second Lieutenant Dustin Doyle.

Julian Bliss, Clarinettist, has appeared at such prestigious venues as the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Louvre in Paris, Montpellier Festival, Jerusalem Music Festival, Bad Kissingen, Rheingau and Mecklenburg Festivals, where he was awarded the audience prize and is now a regular guest. He recently gave a very successful debut recital at the Lincoln Center in New York. As a prolific chamber musician, Julian has collaborated with artists such as Joshua Bell, Steven Isserlis, Misha Maisky, Steven Kovacevich, Elena Bashkirova, Julian Rachlin, Simon Trpceski and Helen Grimaud.
Opening Keynote Address–Thursday, January 27, 2011
Nancy Ditmer, MENC National President Elect, is Professor of Music Education, Conducting and Bands at The College of Wooster, Wooster, OH. Prior to her appointment, Prof. Ditmer taught in the public schools in Arcanum and Versailles, Ohio. As a graduate assistant at the University of Iowa, she taught conducting and instrumental methods, assisted with the Hawkeye Marching Band, and conducted the University Band. Her duties at Wooster include directing the Scot Marching and Symphonic Bands, teaching music education and conducting courses, and supervising student teachers. She is the founder and director of the Wooster Music Camp, a summer program for middle and high school instrumental music students. She served as President of the North Central Division of MENC: The National Associa- tion for Music Education (2002-04); was President of the Ohio Music Education Association (1996-98) and Editor of Triad (1991-93); chaired the Executive Director Task Force, the Government Relations Committee, the Da Capo Board; and was a member of the Strategic Plan Committee.
