Communication, Collaboration, Critical Tinking and Problem Solving and Creativity and Innovation are not foreign to Arts (Music) Education. Tese skills are not something new we need to integrate into our curriculum. Tey have always been there, we just need to identify them in order to justify that the Arts are a 21st
Century
Skill. In the other articles written in this issue of the IME Journal you have gained insight into each one of these skills and you have drawn enough information to become
an advocate for what we do in preparing our students for the 21st
Century.
More insight into the skills needed to be a successful music educator in the 21st
Century will be available
to you at the annual ALL-STATE CONFERENCE 2011 in Peoria. It is the biggest IMEA PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY of the year and I hope you attend this important gathering of music educators.
For all the 21st
Johns, Davids and Dexters rest assured that all of us from the 20th
know that you have a right to a quality 21st
Century Education that includes the
Arts(Music) and we will do all that we can to see that you get one.
