In order to fulfill its aims the Trust seeks to work closely with colleges of Further and Higher Education (FE & HE), hospitality associations, charitable trusts, employers and other interested stakeholders such as the industry’s Sector Skills Council People 1st and the National Skills Academy for Hospitality.
In 2002 the Trustees developed a strategic plan for achieving the Trust’s main aim. They defined those objectives that would meet this aim and would enable the Trust to continue to be a major influence in education, training and development for the hospitality industry.
Since its implementation the strategy has been reviewed
regularly to ensure that the Trust’s grant giving activities continue to be sufficiently focused and relevant in matching the aims and objectives of the Trust with the current skills profile, developments and needs of the hospitality industry.
As stated in last year’s annual review the Trustees recognise that the world and industry in which they operate has altered substantially since the establishment of the Trust some 48 years ago. The strategic review they undertook with the help of an external facilitator on the 17th September 2007 on the structure and work of the Trust helped the Trustees to initially update the strategy for the year under review. At the same time they agreed to formulate an action plan for moving forward focusing on the following key points:- Today (where we are now) Future (where we want to be) Managing the Change (how we will get there)
The Trustees agreed that as part of the ‘Managing the Change’ strategic plan they would undertake some formal and detailed external research to ascertain what the wider market’s perception is of the Savoy Educational Trust as a brand, provider and
a charity. The research would:- • Help the Trustees understand the current awareness level
