systems for commercial and industrial applications. Crisalli started at the very foundation of the construc-
tion business. At age 16, he worked as a mason/laborer aiding in the building of the Ground Round Restaurant in Liverpool. Years later, AT&T purchased the building and hired G.M. Crisalli & Associates to do renovations. “During the renovation of that building our people were carrying out the blocks that I had carried in as a laborer 30 years before,” he said. The first building constructed by Crisalli was an athletic
club in Binghamton called the Court Jester Athletic Club. “At the age of 24, I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to build a $2 million building for a client,” Crisalli recalled. Now Crisalli, his associate Rocco Paone and their 32-
plus employees take on an average of 10 to 12 projects simultaneously, ranging from mom and pop stores to cor- porate enterprises such as Federal Express, AT&T and Wal-Mart. One of its larger and ongoing undertakings is the expansion and renovation of the Wal-Mart in Ithaca. The structure is being expanded by 70,000 square feet to become a 200,000-square-foot supercenter. Business from retailers comes and goes, Crisalli has noticed. “The economy has changed significantly in 21 years since we went into business,” Crisalli said. “Change is a constant, using our wisdom and resources to be proac- tive and reactive to a changing economy and client base has rewarded our company with longevity.” G.M. Crisalli & Associates also constructed the Island Health and Fitness Center in Ithaca, New York. Managed
by Paone, the structure is an 81,000-square-foot medical facility combined with five- and three-story components, a 75-foot, five-lane swimming pool, a cardio rehabilita- tion clinic, a fitness center, a full service day spa, and a prosthetic clinic and sports medicine office. In East Syracuse, Crisalli and his team constructed a discipleship-training center for a non-denominational Christian Church, called the Abundant Life Christian Center. The training center features a youth café and lounge, a 200-seat youth auditorium, a gymnasium and athletic facility and an adult discipleship-training center
