Former greenkeeping and sports turf management students of Oatridge College in West Lothian are to be found, oen in promoted posions, across Scotland and the UK, Europe and indeed, around the world.


Open gardens at Writtle College


WRITTLE COLLEGE GARDEN OPEN DAY ON SUNDAY JULY 12, 10am  4pm. The opening is part of the Naonal Garden Scheme, a charitable trust which provides financial support to a wide range of charitable instuons.


HIGHER EDUCATION OPEN DAY Open Days are designed for students who are looking to commence a Foundaon or Honours degree or a postgraduate programme within the next year. They are held throughout the year and offer the perfect opportunity for students to find out all they need to know about the applicaon process, finances, student life and what Wrile College is all about.

It is the depth of their knowledge, their praccal ability and their willingness to “get stuck in” which aracts employers. In the United States in parcular, where there is growing awareness of the dangers of over-using chemicals, the environmentally friendly approach which underlies their training from day one, is especially appreciated.


Students who are undecided about the level of study they wish to commence should come along to an ‘Informaon Event’.


We are running several during the summer, there's no need to book, simply arrive at the College, and someone will be available to help you. This is an excellent way to find out about a parcular course and get the answers to any quesons that you may have. You can also talk to specialist staff about admissions, subsidised transport, learner support facilies, including our children's nursery, and much more besides.


Oatridge College stands on its own 700 acre estate in aracve countryside and the campus encompasses superb facilies to allow students hands-on and real life experience. There is a nine-hole pay-and-play golf course, a pitch and pu course, a range of pracce greens, bowling greens, acres of sports fields and modern, well-equipped


workshops where they learn the use and maintenance of tools and machinery.


The College offers a full-me one year course leading to the Naonal Cerficate in Greenkeeping, part-me courses for apprences to SVQ (Scosh Vocaonal Qualificaons) Levels 2 and 3 in Sports Turf Management, and a range of specialist short courses, which encourage connuing professional development. Programmes are recognised by the Greenkeepers Training Commiee and the Instute of Groundsmanship.


Every year students are given the chance to gain work experience preparing for major tournaments at some of Scotland’s premier courses, and the College has close es to the “TOPS” programme run by Ohio State University, which offers internships and the opportunity of placements at many of the major tour venues in the United States.
