River Don, the torrential rain forced the river to burst its banks and deposit much of the road leading to the ground onto the outfield and neighbouring football pitch. The torrent of water washed the asphalt access road away, and left 150 tonnes of rocks and boulders strewn across the sportsfield. The floodwater hit the back of the pavilion and surged around the wooden outbuilding housing the outfield triple, causing it to collapse. organisational skills of Ellie Tait, and a freely given report by ECB Pitch Advisor, Alan Kettleborough, we were able to find a number of suppliers who were prepared to offer their help free of charge. Simon Taylor of British Seed Houses immediately stepped in with a donation of nine bags of A5 Cricket & Tennis Renovation cricket mixture and 10 bags of A7 Olympic Sports Ground for the football pitch/outfield. twelve tonnes of County Loam, which was used to re-dress and level the square and Oliver Warriner - a local contractor - carried out all the remedial work on the cricket square. Carl Pass at Premier Pitches offered to verti- drain the football pitch and cricket outfield and undertake brushing and overseeding. Now, some fifteen months after the work

was completed, and with the access road, car park and buildings restored, Oughtibride Cricket Club are ‘back home’ and playing

cricket once again on their ground. Pitchcare wish them a successful, and dry, season and extend our thanks, once again, to all those who helped achieve this remarkable turnaround in the club’s fortunes.
