Ag, Commercial and Consumer divisions no a single business
DEERE & Company’s worldwide Agricultural and Commercial & Consumer Equipment (CCE) Divisions have been combined in a single business unit called the Agriculture & Turf Division, with effect from May 2009. The existing organisation of the John Deere business at Langar and the company’s dealer network in the UK and Ireland remains unaffected, says Richard Johnson, managing director of John Deere Limited.

North East’s only Gaelic football team finally has a home to call its own
SINCE Cú Chulainn’s GAC (Gaelic Athletic Club) was established in September 2007, players have been travelling to Leeds most weekends to play competitive league games. However, North Tyneside Council has now
created a permanent pitch for the team at Killingworth, just north of Newcastle. It means the club can now look forward to
playing their home games in the borough against teams from Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester and Liverpool. Neil Carmichael, North Tyneside’s Sports
“In time, there are likely to be some changes to the way we organise ourselves internally, but our sales and marketing role remains the same and our dealers will continue with their existing franchising arrangements. Essentially, the company is recognising the strengths and synergies that exist between the agricultural and turfcare sectors, and the company remains committed to innovation and growth in all segments of our business,” he adds. “We continue to recognise the vital role that our dealers have to play both today and in the future, delivering unrivalled parts and service support to all our customers while maintaining a sound financial basis to their business. To this end, the company is currently engaged in implementing a number of improvements across the network as part of our Dealer of the Future initiative.”
Development Manager said: “The council provides dozens of football pitches for more than 150 football clubs, though this is the first that’s been created for Gaelic football. I’m
delighted that the council has been able to help this club establish its roots in North Tyneside.”
Mark Lennon, one of the club’s members, said: “North Tyneside Council has shown great enthusiasm in responding to our enquiries for a pitch location and were very eager to bring a new sport to the borough. We are now ideally positioned this season to build on the success of last year, by making use of our home advantage in games and by having a permanent training facility. We are very grateful to the council for all its assistance.” Gaelic football has been described as a
cross between rugby and association football - but the Gaelic game came first.
