Lamb Pie Day
LAMB Pie Day is a special day in the life of Buckfastleigh. The day celebrates the long historical relationship which the town has with industries based upon the local flocks of sheep. The town is advertised as a Historic Woollen
Town because, since medieval times, it has been the centre of sheep-based forms of employment. It was a centre for spinning and weaving, tanning and fellmongery and even today at Devonia you can see the production of sheepskin rugs by visiting its new visitors centre. There is plenty of parking and the entry is free. Lamb Pie Day begins with a farmers’ market in the morning followed by a wide variety of activities with stalls, crafts and games for all the family. There is live music, competitions for the children and the chance to sample a variety of lamb pie recipes as well as lamb roasts. The fun continues throughout the day and well into the evening. Lamb Pie day this year is on July 17. We look forward to seeing you there!
Opening hours 05.30am - 09.00pm Seven days a week.

Singing Kettle
FROM the outside, the Singing Kettle Tearooms in Fore Street, looks just like any other 19th century building, but step inside and you are transported back to the 17th century. The fireplace and stone walls create attractive features which date from this period. These comfortable tearooms display a fascinating collection of antique tea cups, saucers and plates in a variety of styles. A friendly and relaxing atmosphere exists in which to enjoy an extensive menu of breakfasts, lunches, cream teas and delicious cakes. Another major attraction at the Singing Kettle is the pretty tea garden at the rear of the premises where meals are served using an extensive range of local products. There is also an attractive range of vegetarian options. The Ashford family at Bowden Farm are among the major organic suppliers. They provide the eggs, beef and lamb which are used to create the appetising menu. All pork, bacon and sausages are provided by Helen, of Proper Pork, Colston Farm; and milk, cream and ice cream from Devonshire Farmhouse in Chagford.
