The winner of the Channel 4's Come Dine With Me on Jan 22nd was local girl Kate Mayers. Her mum is Jean, one half of Simply Scrumptious, whose recipes regularly feature in The Herald. Here is one of the winning recipes. We hope it proves a winning recipe for you! Crème Brulee with Bailey’s Serves 6 8 egg yolks 50 grms caster sugar 16 fl oz {450 mls} double cream 5 fl oz {150mls} of Bailey’s 2 tblsp caster sugar Pre-heat oven to 150 gas mark 2 Mix the egg yolks and sugar together in a bowl. Put the bailey’s and cream into a pan and bring to the boil. Whisk the cream mixture and the egg mixture together. Pour mixture into 6 ramekin dishes and place in deep tray of boiling water that reaches half way up the ramekins. Cover and bake for 30 mins until just set, leave to cool then put in fridge to chill. Pre-heat the grill, sprinkle each brulee with caster sugar and place under grill to brown, or you can use a blowtorch. Enjoy ! Don’t throw the egg whites away !! use them for making delicious pavlovas . Watch this space!
