And this striking image taken by Les’s 0lympus digital on 8th January shows de - icing tools deep in the clutches of some very cold Padiham Traders.

And talking about snow, we were astonished to hear about the Health and Safety people in a town not far from here, banning a farmer from clearing the deep snow from the lanes around the villages, which had actually become cut off. The reason ! you are going to love this one,- although he had been doing the job for over 30 years, the local council stopped him because he didn’t have an NVQ qualification in snow clearance. Brilliant !

Karen and Simone from Elegant Enhancement are pictured above with Bev and Gordon from the Blinds shop after clearing the pavement up the hill on Burnley Road, Padiham. The Council had been unable to address the problem, which was proving extremely dangerous, particularly for the elderly, so our Intrepid Traders just “got on with it.” Simone was left with quite a few blisters but also a “warm glow in her tummy,” as many locals expressed their gratitude for their efforts.
