Probably the biggest day in a couple’s life, and the key to making it that perfect day is planning. Here are a few things to bear in mind 12 months before the event if possible. Decide upon a wedding date. Decide on your budget. If you are getting married in church you will need to agree on the arrangements with your local minister. If you are getting married in a registry office, you will need to give notice to the Registrar Decide on the number of guests and make a list. Things you need to book well in advance. The wedding reception. Musicians, band or DJ for the reception. The magician or other wedding entertainment. The caterers and the cake. Photographer and videographer. Wedding transport. Florist. Invitations and stationary and the Toastmaster if you intend on having one. Book the honeymoon and apply for a new passport (i.e. The bride may wish to travel under her married name, but be prepared to be unable to travel until your wedding date, as your old passport will be invalid). Book an over night stay in a hotel room/bridal suit. Probably the single most important thing for any bride is her wedding dress, so start looking for it early. Decide whether you want it handmade, a designer or ‘off the peg’ dress. Have fun with the accessories, Shoes, Tiara / Headdress, Necklace & Earings, Veil, Lingerie, and the rings. Don’t forget the rings. Decide on your bridesmaids, Best Man and ushers, and start to consider their wedding attire along with the Groom and the parents. Where will you have your last blast of freedom with your Hen and Stag parties ? And who will you invite ? Confirm all bookings in writing.
