How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now!

It’s not Stan Rogers, but it is the hotbed for the Canadian Ultimate Championships this August. And you’re invited!

BY FABRICE LUCIEN

The Association d’Ultimate de

Sherbrooke is proud to announce that Sherbrooke will host Canadian Ultimate Championships from August 12th to 15th 2010. During three days, this new host city will regroup more than 1000 of the best Ultimate players in Canada. CUC will be held at Bishop’s University which will be changed into the Athletes’ village on the theme: Play clean, go green! In this billingual community located in

Lennoxville, the region offers exceptional outdoor recreational opportunity. Located in the heart of the Eastern Townships, where the St. Francis and Magog Rivers meet, Sherbrooke benefits from an enviable geographic position. As for know-how, the enthusiasm of its local representatives and the expertise of its managers make the city of Sherbrooke

an ideal location to host a variety of conferences and large-scale events. Recognized in the area of sport tourism, Sherbrooke has hosted major events over the past years including the IAAF’s 3rd World Youth Championships in Track and Field. This experience resulted in Sherbrooke winning the bid to host the Canada Games in 2013. This will be the first time the summer games are held in Quebec. In summer,

Sherbrooke welcomes water sports enthusiasts with two beaches, a canoe-kayak school on the Magog River and a sailing school on Lake Magog. Visitors can rent canoes, kayaks and pedal boats on all three bodies of water. For several years now, at the tip of Lac des Nations, the Marché de la Gare de Sherbrooke (outdoor market) has become a favourite meeting place for local residents and visitors. Next to the market, visitors may board the Orford Express tourist train,

considered to be one of the most beautiful trains in Canada. The Festival des traditions du monde takes place in August, providing the opportunity for cultural communities to gather in a celebration that reflects the spirit of the region.
