Rage: So Wes, you have a Southern California look and vibe to you, are you a native?
WeS GeISSLeR
Wes Geissler: No, I was born in West Virginia…eww sick! But fortunately
my parents moved me to Florida when I was 1. Then I moved to where “God”
lives—here in Southern California in 2000.
Smiling and living Rage: How long have you been working at Urban Mo’s?
the good life at Urban mo’S
WG: Coming up on six years.
Rage: Which days/nights of the week can we find you bartending there?
WG: On Wednesday nights, as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday
nights.
Rage: What is it that you enjoy most about working at Urban Mo’s?
WG: I love the “energy” that we promote. It is so contagious! Walking into a
shift knowing I am going to have the best night ever is refreshing. I love our
customers and I love that you can be anything you want and be accepted
for it. I thank every one of you for helping make Mo’s what it is—iconic.
Rage: Urban Mo’s always seems to have something fun going on. What are some of
your favorite “theme nights?”
WG: I love, love, love Friday’s “Skin” night with DJ Taj and working with
Matthew on the patio. Also, Wednesdays “Dream Girls Revue” is fantastic.
“Margarita Madness” on Saturday until 7:00 p.m. with 1980s music rockin’ is
uber fun. And of course Sunday’s “Detour” night is always a blow up!
Rage: Are there any special events planned in September?
WG: Yes, our annual Labor Day “Jungle Party” weekend is sure to be a
crowd pleaser. Friday, the 4th is the “Into the Wild Party” where you’ll be
guaranteed to see hot boys and most of the staff in next to nothing! Sun-
day’s “Detour” will be out of control with a jungle theme, and DJ Taj mixing
it up on the decks. Then “Recovery Monday” once again with DJ Taj is always
a blast, all the boys with the day off will be getting wild and crazy!
Rage: It seems just about every bartender has a specialty cocktail. What’s yours called
and can you tell us how you make it…or is it a secret recipe?
WG: I always switch it up. Right now I’m in love with the “Tea Bag” shot.
You’ll have to see me in person to taste it, though.
Rage: Everyone knows bartending can be hard work, so when you want to relax,
unwind and have a little fun, what do you like to do?
WG: I am a total beach boy! I like to hide my head in the sand and visit
some of my neighborhood bars in Pacific Beach. I love drooling over all of
the hot “straight boys” and I like picking the little closet cases out of the
crowd. Did I mention Jager? Also, I really love having dinner with friends.
It re-centers me.
Rage: What would you say you like most about yourself or is your greatest attribute?
WG: My contagious smile that radiates love to everyone I meet.
Rage: You are an attractive guy; would you care to divulge your current relationship
status?
WG: I’m happy to say I have a very beautiful and sweet man in my life.
Rage: What are some of the qualities you look for and admire most in others?
WG: A positive energy, honesty and generous unwavering love.
Rage: Can you tell us something about yourself that not many people may know?
WG: I “top” sometimes on the weekends. (ha! ha!)
Rage: Is there anything else you would like to share…maybe a motto you choose
to live by?
WG: Life Is amazing! Don’t get caught up wasting a second of your life
without learning or loving more.
