little bit of e
xercise myself. I began compet-
ing in disc about the same time I became
active in rescue; it was a fabulous fit! These
high energy, high drive cattle dogs whose
natural intensity drove their former owners
to dump them into shelters, were the per-
fect prospects for disc. After rescuing a few
incredible athletes, I started to have some
serious success in the K9 Disc competition
world, and a few producers of traveling Disc
Dog shows took notice. I was lucky enough
to work with the Purina Incredible Dog Team
for a year, followed by a year performing for
Jump! The Ultimate Dog Show. After travel-
ing on the road for nearly two years, I some-
how landed my dream job: Dog Trainer here
at Purina Farms. But the truth of the matter
is it’s my dogs who are the real stars and
have the real dream jobs!
My husband, Adrian, and I are blessed with
12 very special dogs…………..7 Australian
Cattle dogs, 4 Border collies, and a Catahoula - all of whom have performed or ap-
peared in our shows over
the years. Here at Purina
Farms, the dogs not only
work as show-dogs, but
they also get to interact
directly with the public,
especially through our
“Pets Go To School” pro-
gram, an educational out-
reach that teaches school
-age children the impor-
tance of pet responsibility
and dog bite prevention
while entertaining them
with some good old fash-
ioned Frisbee dog fun.
