TVCDR pack. He now could run, skip, race and play right along with the other rescues. His
temperament proved to be good‐natured and accepting, just as he had been through
months of medical treatments, surgery and therapy.
Many TVCDR adopters would not even ask about Mack when they were choosing a new
pet. This was probably due to some concern that perhaps with his severe injury, there
might be limits on his activities.
That is where Deborah comes into the picture. Deb‐
orah had read about Mack’s injury on Petfinder. Nev‐
ertheless, whatever she saw in the picture of this little
guy, it made her ask Michael to see Mack the first day
she visited the Rescue. Mack took to her immediately
and she liked what she saw too! The day that Deborah
loaded Mack in the back of her car and drove off, it
was the end of one life and the beginning of another!
Mack moved to Alabama with Deborah and his new
sister, Sasha. The first pictures that Deborah sent of
Mack showed a very happy, smiling boy surrounded
by plush toys. He had really hit it big time!
Fast forward to Chattanooga, Oct. 2008, where Deb‐
orah and Mack are competing in their very first Rally
trial. Deborah paces a little as she waits to go out on
the course muttering that she is getting nervous.
Mack is as sanguine as ever and patiently walks beside
Deborah.
As they go through their paces together, Deborah encourages Mack through every move.
Mack looks completely calm and never takes his attention off Deborah. Through the
twists and turns of his life, Mack has had his angels all along the way to make this day pos‐
sible. And, as he negotiates the winding path of his first Rally course, Mack sticks close to
Deborah, who will be there to lead him through the rest of life’s journeys.
