Stena is market leader on the Irish Sea, with the widest choice of routes including Holy- head to Dun Laoghaire and Dublin Port, and Fishguard to Rosslare. It operates fast (HSS) and traditional ferries from Holyhead, and also from Stranraer to Belfast. By next year it is due to move from Stranraer to nearby Loch Ryan, investing £200 million in the new port. Stena carries around 2.6 million passengers on its Irish Sea routes each year, and also has a hotel breaks programme. ■

Commission rates on some ferry operators are small or non-existent, but Irish Ferries
pays 5% on transport and 10% on packages, including 29 self-catering holiday villages across Ireland. Irish Ferries offers four return sailings daily between Holyhead and Dublin Port by fast ferry Dublin Swift or Ulysses. It also operates twice-daily return services between Pembroke and Rosslare. Complimentary priority boarding is available to motorists booking a cabin on traditional ships. ■
