ENGLAND: YORKSHIRE. Budget: Reighton Sands
This three-star Haven park near Filey is perfect for families. It’s smaller, greener and more tranquil than many Haven parks, with a new heated, indoor fun pool and nine-hole golf course opening in June. Seven nights from July 29 starts at £499 for six sharing a two-bedroom standard holiday home. Blow it: Primrose Valley
Just a couple of miles from Reighton Sands and overlooking Filey Bay, this is Haven’s flagship holiday park in the north. It’s lively and its five stars mean its accommodation is top-notch. There are all-action facilities including a SplashZone complex and adventure rope course. It costs more than double Reighton Sands, with a Platinum holiday home from £1,121 for seven nights arriving July 29. ■

WALES: ANGLESEY. Budget: Ynys Felen Fawr, near Amlwch A comfortable cottage in peaceful surround- ings, close to Blue Flag beaches and numer- ous family attractions. It has Sky TV, a music system and a garden with patio and barbe- cue, plus pets are welcome. Hoseasons has a week for up to five people in August at £680. Blow it: Pilots Cottage, Llanedwen In a stunning setting overlooking Menai Strait, this four-bedroom detached cottage is part of Hoseasons’ Ultimate Collection. Equipped to a very high standard, it is great for enjoying the island’s coastline, with a children’s farm park and model village nearby. SCOTLAND: HIGHLANDS. Budget: The Aul’ Bank, Whitehills, Sleeping four in two bedrooms, this unusual property has been converted from a bank. It features a spiral staircase up from a bright, airy living room to the master bedroom. It is set in the traditional fishing village of Whitehills. A week in August costs £633. Blow it: The Wrack Fishing Lodge, Banff This luxurious retreat has its own outdoor heated pool and enjoys a secluded setting in the grounds of Duff House Estate in Banff.

There’s an outdoor heated swimming pool, cafe, play area and onsite shop. Prices for four start from £724 for seven nights, travelling with Condor Ferries (not with car) from Weymouth with Premier Holidays. Blow it: La Rocco Apartments Also in St Ouen are these bright and spa- cious apartments by the beach, with a pub within easy walking distance. In a complex of two buildings, Seashore and Sea Breeze, the apartments have a lounge, dining area and open-plan kitchen. IRELAND: SOUTH-EAST. Budget: Glenbeg Point Holiday Homes Situated in Ardamine, County Wexford, these purpose-built detached houses (each sleeping five/six) are a few minutes’ drive from Courtown and its two beaches.
