More than 20 agents from across the UK went to a special training event hosted by Premier Holidays at its new headquarters in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire. The day was designed to help boost agents’ knowledge
of Premier Holidays, its product range and core destinations such as the Channel Islands and the US. Guests had a behind-the-scenes tour of Premier’s
headquarters, which includes inspirational scenes of destinations across the world, and met some of the travel experts they deal with regularly. Debbie Goffin, head of sales and marketing, said:
“As well as bringing our agents up to speed with what’s happening at Premier, the day was a chance to give something back and say thank you for their support. This was the first of many similar events to come.”
Older travellers take more holidays now than ever

The over-50s are getting more adventurous and going on more holidays than when they were younger, new research reveals ahead of a conference examining the market.
Delegates at Abta’s one-day
event will learn about the latest trends and popular destinations among the over-50s, specifically how older travellers are looking to personalise their holidays and how to cater for them. Debbie Marshall, managing
director at Silver Travel Advisor, is guest speaker at the event at law firm Hill Dickinson’s offices on Monday. She said: “It’s changed compared to 20 years ago.” Research carried out by the
review and advice website shows 83% of over-50s feel like they have more than 25 years of healthy travel ahead of them and 74% are taking more holidays than they did before they were 50. And 43% of survey respondents

64-year-olds booked a holiday online and 27% by phone. Just

14% booked in store – less than the average across all age groups. This age group is also most likely
to book a holiday on a desktop or laptop with 97% of respondents saying they would do so. The over-65s are the most likely
age group to book on the phone; 74% of respondents booked online. Nikki White, Abta’s director of destinations and sustainability, said: “Differing requirements within this age group have emerged. Travel firms need to be aware of the dynamics when creating holidays for these groups.”

Royal Caribbean appoints regional sales manager
Royal Caribbean International has recruited SOPHIE WILSON from P&O Cruises and Cunard Line as regional sales manager for the northeast. Meanwhile, strategic account manager DAVID HEARN has left Royal to rejoin Ocean World Travel as commercial director.
Celebrity Cruises makes two senior promotions
Celebrity Cruises has promoted CLAIRE STIRRUP to director of sales and KATHY BARBROOKE to director of guest and trade services, UK and Ireland. Stirrup’s promotion follows commercial sales director for the UK and Ireland SARAH HARRAGHY’S announced departure earlier this month. UK and Ireland managing director JO RZYMOWSKA has had Asia added to her remit in the newly expanded role of vice-president and managing director, UK and Ireland and Asia.
Broadway names Buckman as chief marketing officer
Ex-Lowcost Holidays managing director TIM BUCKMAN has been appointed Broadway Travel Group’s chief marketing officer. He will join from marketing agency Addmustard next week.
