Azamara to host hundreds of agents on updated ships

Azamara Club Cruises is to host hundreds of agents on board newly refurbished ships Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest.
The line will organise 11
visits in the UK and Ireland this year, inviting up to 100 agents on board each time and “throwing in some surprises along the way”. President and chief
executive Larry Pimentel
said no part of Azamara Journey was left untouched. All staterooms and suites
have been overhauled, two new Spa Suites have been built close to the spa and the Club World Ocean and Owner’s Suites have also been redesigned. Dining venues and the casino have
also been revamped. Azamara Journey set
sail for an 11-night West Indies Hideaway Voyage on January 28 following the refurbishment, while sister ship Azamara Quest will
enter drydock in April. Richard Twynam, UK and
Ireland managing director, said: “We will be showcasing the ships to lots of different audiences, but our priority is to say thank you to agents for voting us as the Best Specialist Cruise Line at this year’s Globe Travel Awards.” The first visit will
take place on June 11 in Southampton, and other ship visits will include Guernsey, Belfast, Dublin, Liverpool,
Glasgow and Edinburgh.

RECORD SALES: Princess Cruises has attributed its “best January ever” to increased support from the trade. The line saw a 50% rise in sales in January compared with last year. Head of sales Rachel Poultney (pictured, centre, with the rest of the sales team) attributed the growth in bookings to Princess’s “simple wave messages” and the introduction of its OneSource agent booking portal last year.
