The plumbing between the clever bits

here is quite a clever analogy, coined by one of the Intelliconnect team, that connectors, cable assemblies and adaptors are just the plumbing between the clever bits in an RF/Microwave system. Whilst a little self-deprecating, it is in fact a very accurate statement especially when you consider the increasingly hostile and wet environments which equipment can be subjected to.

The SSMA is a smaller version of SMA which provides higher frequency performance. The male contact is designed to be the same size as the cable conductor so that it can be used as the mating pin for optimised VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio - a measure of how efficiently radio- frequency power is transmitted from a power source, through a transmission line, into a load).
The SMC is a low cost high quality connector with a threaded coupling which provides excellent broadband performance with low reflection DC to 10 GHz. It conforms to the interface dimensions of MIL-STD-348 p and offers a form-fit-and-function alternative to other connector sources.

The company has an expanding and extensive low loss RF cable assembly manufacturing service for assemblies using semi-rigid, semi-flexible, conformable, LMR and RG cables and cryogenic cables. Typical applications include security, medical, defence and aerospace, including marine IP68 waterproof, test and measurement, high power amplifiers, RF combiners and filters, multi-beam antenna arrays, and phased array radars. These high quality, UK manufactured, bespoke cable assemblies are available for both high-volume or specialist small batch requirements are able to operate from DC to 50GHz. Phase matched cable assemblies may also be specified allowing customers to specify the electrical length in time or degrees at the frequency of operation for a specific cable assembly.
