Arrow Electronics received the Dell 2015 Europe OEM Partner of the Year award at the Dell OEM Europe Channel Conference in Dublin, Ireland. The award ceremony recognises the best distributors in the Dell network based on how partners’ rate in the opinion of Dell sales people, the number of approved deals registered, and the amount revenue generated. Arrow won the OEM Partner of the Year award for

the second consecutive year, a significant recognition of the strength of the relationship between Arrow and Dell OEM in the region. Arrow is uniquely positioned in the Dell OEM channel, offering a complete solution approach which is consistent across EMEA and North America. Amir Mobayen, VP and General Manager, Arrow OCS EMEA attributed this success to Arrow’s ability to perform as an

Altus Group receive a significant order from electronics manufacturer

Altus Group, a leading distributor of capital equipment for the electronics assembly industry has received a significant new order from Exception EMS, to provide the company with a nitrogen capable, production reflow soldering system, from Rehm, Germany. The system will be

installed into the UK facility of Exception EMS, a contract electronics manufacturing solutions provider. The chosen oven is 14 zones (10 heating and four cooling),

the size and modular design will cater to any demands that the company receives from its wide customer base, and will offer the most reliable and repeatable soldering results, currently available in the market today.

Matt Jones, Altus Group sales director said, “Working in a whole range of different markets, Exception EMS required an oven which was both flexible and had the capability to meet diverse manufacturing requirements. Rehm Vision XS Nitro was selected as the best fit to operate in the mid-range to high-end production in PCB assembly. Nitrogen soldering capability also gives the company extra capability for those very demanding soldering applications.”

Jiri Kucera, engineering manager of Exception EMS said: “We have selected Rehm as our new company-wide supplier of reflow equipment as we felt their technology and systems design best suited our varied needs and would deliver a very reliable and repeatable process over many years. Rehm’s solutions for flux management, power and nitrogen control, plus a good local support from Altus, were the major factors in our selection process and our final decision. Altus helped us to define our objectives and needs to find the best match for our soldering requirements, and worked with us throughout the whole decision process. We expect to work closely as partners with Rehm and Altus for other equipment needs in the future.”

Microchip partners with Silicon integrated Systems (SiS) on industry’s first combined multi-touch and 3D-gesture modules for displays

Microchip Technology, a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analogue and Flash-IP solutions, has announced its partnership with Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) to provide customers with complete projected- capacitive touch (PCAP) and 3D-gesture interface modules, which will lead to faster development and lower costs. The modules will make it easier to design multi-touch and 3D gesture displays with Microchip’s award-winning GestIC technology, which offers a hand tracking range of up to 20 centimetres (cm) from the display surface. Hand gestures are universal, hygienic and easy to learn. In addition, they enhance safety by reducing the need for precise hand- eye coordination.

SiS modules with Microchip’s GestIC technology is being demonstrated at Microchip’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, from January 6-9,

2016. Microchip developed the GestIC technology so that it can be readily combined with multi-touch PCAP controllers. It is the lowest-cost 3D gesture technology available on the market. In addition, GestIC sensors are constructed with standard materials and production methods, such as indium tin oxide (ITO), metal mesh and conductive ink on glass or foil. These new modules from SiS are the world’s first to integrate 2D PCAP and 3D gesture technologies, providing a complete display solution. SiS has 30 years of experience and expertise in PC chipset products, eMMC, eMCP, and projected-capacitive touch solutions. Through this partnership with Microchip, SiS will act as an electronic developer and also provide sensor integration. The resulting modules will allow faster time to market for a broad range of designs, such as those in the automotive and consumer industries.
