The Katy Rides Again
The Oklahoma Railway Museum in Oklahoma City purchased EMD SW8 No. 2034 as surplus from the U.S. Army at Fort Sill in 2009. Museum volunteers bgean the repainting project in January to celebrate the heritage of the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas tracks on which they operate. Numbered one higher than MKT’s last SW1200, ORM’s No. 48 was pulling a Father’s Day excursion train past their highly visible billboard on June 21, 2015. The ORM rosters a number of historic locomotives and cars that are operated on its three-mile demonstration railroad.
