Visitors can be in easy reach of lush forest
trails, sparkling rivers and mountains steeped in legends with some of the best ingredients and fi ne wines on their doorstep. The geysers spouting plumes of boiling, mineral-rich water seem to emphasise that the landscape is alive. With some 88% of visitors being independent
travellers, a sense of adventure comes in handy; a fact clearly recognized by UK travel agents who recently voted New Zealand the ‘Best Destination for Soft Adventure’ in Selling Travel’s Travel Agents Choice Awards. From adrenalin activities in Queenstown
and foodie trails in Hawkes Bay to Art Deco in Napier and enchanting beauty in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand continues to develop a fascinating dilemma of choice for UK visitors. Will it be a Maori hangi (food cooked on hot rocks in an earth oven) in Rotorua or the riches of Te Papa Museum in Wellington? Whatever the trip, New Zealand is banking on UK visitors making their own travel movie.

Tourism talk “With visitor numbers on the increase we’re confi dent that they will continue to grow as we enter our peak selling
period, especially with the raft of events coming up. Over the coming months we will continue our promotion of Middle Earth journeys around the third and fi nal part of the Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. We’ve seen a positive impact from the previous movies in terms of visitor numbers and our ‘where fantasy meets reality’ messaging is one which we will continue to leverage. “We’ll also
see the Barmy Army arriving for the ICC Cricket
World Cup
