Australia GREAT SOUTHERN RAIL operates three train journeys across Australia. All journeys aboard The Ghan, Indian Pacifi c and The Overland feature all-inclusive dining, beverages and three levels of service. The Ghan is perhaps the best known of the three and offers a three- day, two-night iconic journey from Adelaide to Darwin via Alice Springs (or vice versa). Taking passengers through the heart of the Australian Outback, this trip includes a stop in Katherine to explore Katherine Gorge and time in Alice Springs. The Indian Pacifi c offers a four-day, three-night trip from Perth on the west coast of Australia to Sydney on the east, via Adelaide while The Overland journey links Adelaide and Melbourne. Travelling by train is an excellent way to help travellers connect key destinations while getting a real feel for the vastness and diversity of the continent.
