Belvoir triumphs at Negotiator Awards

n Franchise owners and staff at Belvoir are celebrating yet another superb industry award win in 2014 – this time scooping Franchisor of the Year at the Negotiator Awards held in London.

Dorian Gonsalves, Belvoir’s director of commercial and franchising, was invited on stage at the London Hilton on 4 November to accept the gold award for Franchisor of the Year from comedian and TV quiz-show host Alexander Armstrong. “The Negotiator Awards are widely

recognised as the Oscars of the property industry, celebrating the best and highest achievers in the residential property market. According to the organisers, the entry list for 2014 was the biggest in the history of the event and competition was keener than ever,” said Dorian. “It was, therefore, an amazing achievement for Belvoir to be shortlisted in five categories. Last year, Belvoir won the silver award for Franchisor

of the Year and it is fantastic to go one better in 2014 and win gold. “I strongly believe that Belvoir is one of the most responsible, ethical and well-positioned franchised businesses in the industry, with a 19-year track record to prove it. We provide franchise owners with a massive business opportunity and immense capacity for success, so I believe the group is highly deserving of the title of Franchisor of the Year. We are also very proud that Belvoir’s website once again picked up a top award – silver for Website of the Year. Dorian continued: “Earlier this year, Belvoir won the gold award for Lettings Franchise of the Year – at the Lettings Agency of the Year Awards – for a record fourth time. Winning Franchisor of the Year at the Negotiator Awards is the icing on the cake for 2014 and I could not be prouder of the success that the company is now enjoying.”

Gertie Owen

n Gertie Owen joined Platinum Property Partners (PPP) in August 2010. After 20 years spent looking after her children and being, in her own words, a lady of leisure, Gertie wanted a new challenge. “As my children had grown into young adults, I found myself with increasing amounts of free time. My husband was also made redundant, so there was the need for an additional income stream. PPP appealed to me as they offer

a proven system to begin investing in property, providing cashflow as well as a growing asset base. I had no previous buy-to-let experience, but with support and guidance on hand whenever I needed it, PPP offered the ability to achieve the income I wanted. Since joining PPP, I’ve bought,

refurbished and fully tenanted four HMO (house in multiple occupation) properties and have just bought my fifth. I’ve gone from having no experience of property development to becoming the 2013 HMO Landlord of the Year, awarded by Landlord & Buy-to-Let Magazine. I was delighted to have my hard work and caring attitude towards my tenants acknowledged. PPP taught me to be the best, and I couldn’t have done it without them.

The financial benefit has exceeded my expectations. When I joined PPP, my five-year goal was to be earning £100,000 per annum, but after three years I am already earning approximately £126,000 per annum, so I feel a great sense of achievement.” n
