No country offers more

accommodation options than the USA, from

modestly-priced motels to five- star resort hotels

S ome of the big name brands on offer –

such as the Hiltons, Marriotts, Wyndhams and Best Westerns – have an international profile. Others, like Aston Hotels &

Resorts, feature properties in specific regions – in its case,

the four main Hawaiian islands and the

Orlando, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas areas. New York, which has the highest occupancy

rate of any US city (87 per cent), now boasts more than 96,000 rooms in some 500 hotels. Among those in the Times Square area are the recently renovated Wyndham New Yorker and the 487- room Hyatt at Times Square, featuring a spa and – on the 54th floor – the highest roof-top lounge in Manhattan. Towards the end of 2014 they were set to be joined by the world's tallest (50 storey) Holiday Inn, located near the World Trade Center. Chicago's new hotels include two with UK connections. York City to the Great Pyramid, the glittering, neon-lit Las Vegas Strip

is, of course, a very

special place for exotic hotel collectors. New are the 2,256-room LINQ Hotel & Casino, all-suite Delano Las Vegas and SLS, the first Las Vegas hotel created by the renowned designer Philippe Starck. And that's not to forget the new Cromwell boutique hotel with its rooftop club, the reinvention of both the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino and New York-New York and two renovated hotels, the Tropicana Las Vegas and Bally's Jubilee Tower, which both offer breathtaking views of the Strip.
