Up Front Brianna Archabal’s mother,
Samantha, told the Professional Bowlers Association recently that Brianna attended her first Pro-Am at two weeks old. Now a seasoned competitor at age 6, Brianna electrified the crowd at the PBA Boise West/Northwest Open at 20th Century Lanes in Boise, Idaho, on July 25 with a strike that few in attendance will soon forget. 2013 PBA
OH NO: WORST BREAK EVER? Think you have the worst luck? Think again.
Perhaps you think you have gotten your share of bad breaks on the lanes. But you may also agree that few, if any, were as bad as the break en- dured by youth bowler, Chris Nairne, of the Stirling Youth Tenpin Bowling Club in cen- tral Scotland. Watch closely as Nairne’s shot seems to deliver a high-flush strike—Nairne turns around sure he has just struck— only for the headpin to then take the place of the 10-pin and stand, landing Nairne with what might be comfortably described as one of the most bizarre nine-counts in bowling history.
EVERYTHING BOWLING, ALL THE TIME
A LITTLE HELP FROM A LITTLE FRIEND
Regional finals champ, Ben Laughlin, happened to be bowling on the same pair as Brianna when he threw the front 11 strikes one game. The PBA reported that he told Brianna “he gets very nervous when he’s so close to bowling a 300 game, and asked her if she’d throw the last ball for him.” So Brianna threw the final ball. It was a strike, and the shot whipped the crowd into a frenzy.
A Bowling Lifer at Age 6: Archabal’s mother, Samantha, says Brianna is “ a true bowling girl” and that “you can find her waiting to help in dad’s pro shop any chance she gets.”
