Duplo Valley debuts at Legoland Florida


Based around the Lego Duplo line of preschool toys, Duplo Valley is new for 2014 at Legoland Florida, Winter Haven, Florida. Featured are farm-themed attractions, an air-conditioned indoor play area and a water play area all geared to toddlers ages two to five.


Quassy’s Splash Away Bay


Quassy Amusement Park’s plunge into the waterpark business a decade ago pumped new life into the family- owned Connecticut property overnight. After virtually doubling in size last year, Quassy’s Splash Away Bay (formerly called Saturation Station) is again open for summer 2014 with new additions including a BulletBowl raft ride and a pair of FreeFall extreme body slides, all from ProSlide.


Also new for 2014 is a 2,000 sq ft children’s splash pad by Vortex Aquatic Structures.


Introducing Wet ‘n’ Wild SplashTown


Houston’s largest waterpark has completed a multi-million dollar transformation from SplashTown to Wet ‘n’ Wild Splashtown with the opening of Big Kahuna raft ride, FlowRider, surf simulator and Wet ‘n’ Wild Jr interactive children’s area. Here’s a photo showing the new look.

Halloween comes early to UK This first of several planned events under the banner of HEX – Halloween


Expo Europe – takes place next month (Thursday 10 July) at Hunton Park in Watford, England.


Aimed at professional scare attraction operators and Halloween entertainment industry specialists, the conference will be followed later in the day with a visit to the nearby Warner Brothers Studio Tour London and The Making of Harry Potter. meets White Water! White Water, Branson, Missouri, has launched its 2014 season with a new thrill slide billed as the biggest in the waterpark’s history. The $1.7 million KaPau Plummet supplied by, er, WhiteWater (no relation) features a pair of duelling slides with a near- vertical 70° plunge followed


by a spiralling loop. Each translucent 240ft-long (73m) slide, one red and one green, include a drop-floor start and is attached to a 40ft (12m) tower. Riders reach speeds of up to 26ft (8m) per second.
