The iF jury has now recognised Crown product design excellence 35 times since 1969. raceability creates lean manufacturing processes, simplifies just-in-time deliveries, aids legal certainty and ensures product quality. The sensor specialist and RFID provider Balluff can look back on 25 years of experience in this area and offers an extensive portfolio of track-and-trace solutions. The portfolio was recently expanded to include new RFID technologies for high-temperature applications, which are often called for in the semiconductor industry or in paint-spray lines and drying ovens in the automotive sector. Balluff offers not only the entire spectrum of flexibly combinable LF, HF and UHF-RFID components, but also a variety of stationary barcode readers by means of which its customers can realize individual and economical traceability solutions on a high technical level. Data carriers mounted on a workpiece, pallet or directly on equipment record all steps and manufacturing lots of a production sequence. This occurs in running operation, so that the data can be evaluated in real time or later – even after years – for traceability purposes. Balluff, with its RFID systems of the BIS series, offers industry-proven solutions for extremely rough environments.

This month, leading UK packaging supplier Kite Packaging held a Grand Opening of its brand new building on the Alliance Trading Estate in Coventry. Just a few months ago Kite made a significant investment in its Midlands operation – the £3.5 million spend means Kite now fully owns the whole of Alliance Trading Estate, which is based next door to the company’s main building. The business has more than doubled its property footprint in the Midlands from 69,000 sq. ft to 179,000 sq. ft and the new building will be home to Kite Environmental Solutions and the Group Accounts operation. The opening saw the Managing Partners from each Kite branch cut the ribbon on the newly renovated building which includes a refurbished office and brand new Warehouse facility. The new Warehouse will allow for a more efficient packing and delivery operation from the company, who already offer free standard delivery on all online products as well as full service solutions such as JIT for branch customers, and includes a scissor lift so that trucks can easily transfer stock, as well as narrower lanes to allow for more storage space and new Aisle Master forklift trucks.
