Good curling! Roy Ohr’s third-grade class at the Columbus (Ohio) Preparatory Acad-

emy hosted a classroom bonspiel to celebrate a weeklong Olympic event at the school. In an email message to USA Curling, Ohr said: “We’ve been reviewing

for upcoming state testing and students had to answer questions before be- ing able to throw their ‘stones.’ Students learned curling etiquette, had a chance to hold real brooms and (junior) stones and even took part in the whole tradition of marching on to the “ice” to a bagpiper and toasting (Kool Aid) to ‘good curling.’” Te winning teams received pins, donated by USA Curling, and the over-

all champs took home a medal. “It was a great learning experience for all of them and we’ve even had extra matches aſter school,” said Ohr, who curls out of the Columbus Curling Club. “Its great to hear urban third grade stu- dents use terms like hammer and takeout shot while playing.” n
