By Perry Grueber, Chairman, 2014 USSMCA Bonspiel

Feb. 12-16. Sixty-four teams in three divisions – Masters (68+), Super Seniors (63+) and Seniors (55+) – vied for the Association’s national titles. Te bonspiel, the first national event held at the new, eight Olympic-regulation sheet Wausau Curling Center since it’s opening in fall 2012, was highlighted by a four-game guarantee, fierce competition, high-quality playing conditions, ample refreshments each of the five days and a Tursday evening banquet for the 262 partici- pants, their guests and Wausau Curling Club vol- unteers. Te warm and welcoming surroundings of the Wausau Curling Center made the perfect venue for renewing old and starting new friend- ships and viewing the action both at the Center and televised from the Ice Cube at the Sochi

pions were crowned. First to be named were the Masters’ winners, the Larry Brown Rink of the Exmoor (Illinois) Curling Club. In the Super Seniors’ the Bob Knievel Rink of the Granite Curling Club in Seattle, prevailed. And in the Seniors’, it was the Geoff Good- land rink out of the Eau Claire (Wis.) Curling Club, with Mike Fraboni and Stan Vinge of the Madison (Wis.) Curling Club and Wausau Curling’s own Cal Tillisch – the event’s youngest participant. In 2015, the USSMCA Nationals moves
