Connecticut boys record historical win


Championships held at the Cloverdale and Langley curling clubs in British Columbia, Canada. Suslavich (Woodbury, Conn.) and teammates Hunter Clawson (Clarks-

ville, Md.), Will Pryor (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.), and Caleb Clawson (Clarksville, Md.) won the event on Sunday aſternoon with a 5-3 win over the previously undefeated Tanner Horgan rink of Northern Ontario. Te team was coached by Don Arsenault (Brick, N.J.). Te title win was the first for the U.S. men at this event. In 2004, Wisconsin’s Nina Spatola led her team to the first title for the U.S. program. Te last time the U.S. won a medal at the U18 was in 2006 (bronze). Suslavich’s team went 4-1 in round robin play to reach the playoffs. In


the semifinals, the team defeated Nova Scotia’s Adam Cocks team, 6-2, to advance to the gold-medal game against the Horgan rink. In addition to the gold-medal victory, Washington’s Nicholas Connolly


rink won the bronze medal for the U.S. aſter defeating Nova Scotia, 5-4. Connolly’s team included fellow Granite Curling Club members Luc Vio- lette (Granite Falls, Wash.), Blake Sweet (Everett, Wash.), Kyle Lorvick (Lake Forest Park, Wash.), and Benjamin Richardson (Issaquah, Wash.).
