back to back that compliment each other better. Bob Walker’s inclusion of the Calvin Coolidge quote: “Nothing in this world can take the place of persist- ence….” goes hand in hand with Alan Mende’s excellent article, “Scratchbuild- ing A Shay.” Alan’s trials and ultimate success are something a lot of us go through but, rarely admit. The key to al- most all the successful work of the top modelers is patience and persistence. Thanks for reminding us of this fact, in such entertaining fashion, gentlemen. WAYNE A. umn “Your tax dollars at work” in the March RMC. In answer to your basic question “if interest warrants,” I would be interested in more on military mod- eling. Our S Gauge club, the Miami Valley S Gaugers, hosted the Spring S Spree in Dayton in 2012 with an Air Force blue hopper for the Spree car. Many years ago we had an Army flat car with a crate labeled “from Roswell, NM to Wright Patterson AFB, OH.” What really prompted me to write

were your comments about Ft. Mon- mouth, N.J. I was stationed there at the Electronics Command from 1971 to 1975. I was there when they brought in the railroad cars for housing. In fact, I was involved in an effort to start a model railroad club at the base. Some-

one actually got permission to use one of the passenger cars for the club, and we spent some time trying to design a layout to fit an 80-foot car! However, I finished my obligation and returned to Ohio before anything actually got done, and have no idea what became of the club (that was in the days before the Internet). Thought you might like to here

about the club and cars. I subscribe to RMC and really look forward to it com- ing each month.

Tangent Scale Models review Many thanks to John Riddell for his thorough review of the Tangent Scale Models (www.tangentscalemodels.com) GA 6,000 gallon tank car, published in the March 2014 issue of RMC. We have had several RMC readers call and write to us based upon this review, and for that interest we sincerely thank you all. Tangent Scale Models sold out of our first production run of ready-to- run and kit tank cars in December 2013, however we have a new produc- tion of models planned for release in June or July 2014. We will be sure to work with RMC

and the DISPATCHERS REPORT so you can be informed exactly when our new tank cars are available again. Also, Mr. Riddell did not mention that, like the Intermountain AAR two-bay hopper, the Tangent Scale Models GA tank car is the first ever HO model representing this prototype. Thanks again to RMC and Mr. Riddell for the review of our product. Keep up the good work! DAVID LEHLBACH Asheville N.C.
