Our survey found that 55% of companies provide a sick pay scheme defi ned as benefi t over and above the statutory allowance. In practice, this varies enormously and the level of additional cover ranged from 10 days paid sick leave per year to full pay for up to 6 months. A large number of respondents said that the level of sick pay depends on the length of tenure with the business.

Pensions

Recent legislation in this area has no doubt had an impact on what is available to employees. Over 85% of respondents claimed that they were enrolled on a Contributory Pension scheme and it was the level of contribution that made interesting reading. The majority of respondents receive a contribution between 3-5% but there was a surprisingly high number (almost 15%) of respondents who receive 10% or higher.
