“World Travel Market 2013 was a great success, not only did we have more than 50,000 delegates come to the show but we had a record number of attendees at the conference and events sessions too. I am particularly pleased with the massive increase in participation in the sessions for The Travel Tech Show at WTM. It proves the success of this dedicated ‘show within a show’ concept that we created this year.”

We are all absolutely delighted with WTM 2013 which hosted more than 100 conferences and events with a total attendance of over 16,000, a 9.5% increase from last year. The events programme included sessions on aviation, cruise, hotels, sports tourism and responsible tourism, and the inaugural Travel Tech Show at WTM made up around half of the total sessions. Seminars covered social media, mobile, blogging and technology, and accounted for a massive 88% increase on WTM 2012. Headline speakers included former M&S CEO and Chairman Sir Stuart Rose, along with representatives from Google, Facebook, TripAdvisor, plus many more. One particularly prestigious event was the Captains of Industry lunch where BBC journalist Stephen Sackur spoke to Sir Stuart Rose. When asked how

You need all the tools at your disposal – big data is fantastic, and what that data can tell you is amazing.”

“I see fantastic choice in travel – your point of difference is that you have to offer something unique, have control over your brand, plus have a really fantastic service ethic, there’s nothing people like more than good service.
