Visit Flanders
Flanders is WTM 2013’s Premier Partner and is using this year’s event as the platform to promote its 4-year remembrance of the Great War. Senior Exhibition Director, World Travel Market, Simon
Press, said: “The struggle for peace and its continual maintenance is one that affects everyone in the world of travel and tourism. WTM 2013 is therefore proud to host an event which honours such luminaries whose work had such an impact on their own times and which resonates today. As we prepare for the centenary of World War I, now is a good time to reflect on the necessity of trying to bring peace to the world.”
Flanders intends to use an artistic commemoration to highlight this poignant landmark in time. ‘Coming World/ Remember Me’ will seek to engage people from those countries involved in the war, in the preparation of a unique 600,000 clay sculpture collection in workshops over the course of four years, to be displayed in an installation by 2018.
