Exterior render boards

Marley Eternit’s Bluclad has helped create 14 Code for Sustainable Home Level 4 properties in south west London.

Property developers, Oakwood Group, specified Bluclad exterior render boards because of its outstanding dimensional stability, which reduces substrate movement, a common cause of surface cracks on rendered facades. Bluclad’s dimensional stability avoided the need for applying adhesives at butt joints. This saved time for the installers creating a more stable substrate to apply the final render system. Bluclad can be used as a substrate for a variety of thin coat polymeric renders, textured finishes and other surface coatings.

Galvanizing protection for iconic building

Crittall won ‘Best Duplex’ in the Galvanizers Association’s 2013 Annual Competition for the hot rolled galvanized steel profiles and cold-formed galvanized steel doors it supplied during the refurbishment of the iconic Falmer House at the University of Sussex. The Duplex system provides a more sophisticated manner of corrosion protection. The galvanized coating protects the base steel, supplying cathodic and barrier protection so rust will not grow and paint will not peel up. Paint in turn grants barrier protection to the galvanized coating. The paint slows down the rate at which the zinc is consumed, greatly extending the life of the galvanized steel.

KitLock locker locks have replaced locker keys in the changing rooms at the Welsh National Football Development Centre.

KitLock 1000 is a durable electronic lock designed for securing lockers. Fitted in place of a standard cam lock, it provides simple keypad access without the hassle of keys, coins or tokens. Access is gained by entering a four-digit code on the keypad. Players simply enter a user code, then ‘lock and go’. A red LED light flashes to show the locker is in use and a blue light indicates a vacant locker.

Replicating natural granite

Block paving manufacturer Tobermore’s new Fusion range combines exposed granite aggregates with specialist hard surface wearing layer technology for a striking visual effect that perfectly replicates natural granite. Available in a range of sizes from 100mm to 600mm, plus a variety of colour and laying pattern choices, the concrete paving will meet a BREEAM rating of A.

Tobermore’s manufacturing process gives a hardwearing surface layer for durability and a minimum 12-hour vapour curing process to reduce the possibility of efflorescence. Made using a very high proportion of granite in the surface layer, the products have the appearance of natural granite at a fraction of the price.

Doorsets keep cold at bay

Fitzpatrick has introduced Insucel; a range of insulated steel doorsets specifically designed to meet increasing regulatory control.

Developed using a variety of core and frame infill materials and sealing products, the range complies with both the current Building Regulations and the new EN14351 standard for windows and doors.

The total engineered metal doorset solution provides an effective insulation barrier. With the components factory-assembled, the complete doorsets are manufactured to the closest tolerances and checked to meet the required performance levels. This enables them to achieve extremely low U-Values of just 2.0 w/m2k for the Insucel RW and 3.1 w/m2k for the Insucel HC.
