Ice system at Time Capsule
A work of art
Four-by-Two Consultants specified Marley Eternit’s EQUITONE [tectiva] to turn an Information Kiosk into a work of art at the Edinburgh Art Festival.
EQUITONE in Pebble was used, with its through colour, fine sanded lines and natural occurring hues, to create a wrap- around skin for the 4m x 3.6m x 3.6m lightweight laminated plywood frame, with clear polycarbonate inner layer. The kiosk’s large windows and part glazed entrance area admit maximum light. The ability to CNC cut the fibre cement panels allowed the architects to form perforations in the skin, controlling the daylight entering the space, and casting layered shadows into the interior.

Cooling and heating specialist Star Refrigeration has designed and installed a new ice rink at the Time Capsule in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.
Star designed an ice system providing optimum coverage across the rink floor ensuring a level surface and the temperature, quality and hardness of the ice remained even and constant. The ice system comprises a Star Azanechiller refrigeration plant connected to specially designed flooring. The plant chills a glycol mix to -10ºC before it’s circulated through cooling pipes embedded in the concrete pad forming the ice rink floor. An under floor heater mat is designed to protect the rink from frost heave.

Flooring for happy holidays Cutting laundry costs
The four star Cuillin Hills Hotel in Scotland aims to cut laundry bills by 50 per cent after bringing its laundry in house with Girbau UK.
Girbau produced a detailed installation layout for the old outbuildings, which were converted to the new laundry. The company tailored a finance package to suit the hotel’s needs, with no initial capital required. For energy efficiency, the hotel chose two Girbau 6-Series high spin washers: a HS-6017 LOGI model and a smaller HS-6008 LOGI PRO. For drying it’s using a 75lb capacity Girbau UK Pro Series II tumble dryer and a compact Eco-Dryer for smaller loads.

Thomson wanted to create a comfortable and welcoming environment in its flagship stores.
