Appealing aesthetic for golf club
FOLLOWING a redesign of the golf facilities at Bushey Country Club, 152sq m of Sticks & Stones Fibre Bonded carpet from Heckmondwike was specified by ID-Architecture in Charcoal to provide an attractive and durable flooring solution. The hardwearing specialist entrance
carpet tiles were used throughout the golf changing rooms, lobby, members lounge and café because of their ability to withstand the wear and tear caused by heavy footfall, spiked golf shoes and dirt brought in from the golf course. “The country club is a popular wedding venue, as well as a prestigious golf club, so we needed a floor covering that was visually attractive and would look its best every day of the year. We chose Sticks & Stones in Charcoal because the striking diagonal motif created an appealing aesthetic and the robustness of fibre bonded carpet means that it will retain its appearance and will be easy for the club to maintain,” said Ian Darlington, Architect at ID-Architecture.
Meeting heavy footfall needs
ONE of Bournemouth’s biggest and busiest tourist attractions has been redeveloped to include hard-wearing flooring from Tarkett. The Bournemouth Oceanarium, which includes a popular Amazon area complete with piranhas, features 360sq m of Tarkett flooring laid throughout. Since its launch in 2008 the Oceanarium
has received more than 1.5 million visitors, all treading through sand and water from the nearby seafront which was causing the previously laid flooring to wear quickly. The flooring selected was from Tarkett’s Luxury Vinyl Tile iD Inspiration 70. It was laid in all areas except the kitchens and servery including the restaurant, gift shop, entrance and Amazon area. Tarkett’s Safetred flooring was chosen for the kitchens and servery because of its sustainable slip resistant properties.

Luxury Vinyl Tile iD Inspiration 70 has a 0.7mm pure PVC transparent wear layer, making it hardwearing, indentation resistant and resilient against scratches, scuffs, soiling and staining. In keeping with Tarkett’s drive to
become the most sustainable flooring manufacture in the UK, 37 per cent of the Luxury Vinyl Tile iD Inspiration 70 range is made up from recycled content and the waste flooring for the redevelopment was taken away for recycling.

The busy club has almost 2,000 members. Sticks & Stones protects carpets by intercepting dirt and moisture trodden in from outside, which is a common issue for golf clubs which are open all year round. The golf club will also benefit from the robust construction of fibre bonded carpet which will not ravel or fray and offers excellent thermal and acoustic properties. All fibre bonded products are
