The season of cheer and goodwill is now upon us, and I do hope you’re having a successful and profitable run up to Christmas.


You will, I’msure, have planned well in advance for this December’s rush, but if you are in need of some additional inspiration, inside this issue we offer you some lastminute ideas to cash in on Christmas, plus suggestions of how to spend your hard-earned extra profits in the NewYear.


At this time of year it’s difficult to find time to breathe let alone think about next year, but with 2014 only a few weeks away don’t neglect your NewYear Resolutions, particularly as far as your business or career goes. Have you achieved all you hoped in 2013? Is there a course youwish you’d taken, or newtreatment you’d like to offer? Do your books need a bit of work, or do you need to brush up on yourmanagement skills?


After the rush of Christmas,make sure you take time to assess your success over the past 12 months, and thenmake a resolution to act on any areas that need improvement, or just treat yourself to undertaking a new a course in a treatment you’ve always wanted to offer. It needn’t be expensive, but if you take on a new therapy, it’s bound to add to your profits for 2014.

Scottish Nail Tech 2014 is officially launched this month, and promises to be the competition’s biggest year yet.


Nail Techs at next year’s event will have the opportunity to compete for the title of ScottishNail Tech 2014.


The event takes place on Sunday 23rd andMonday 24thMarch as part of Scottish Beauty at the Royal Highland Centre (RHC) in Edinburgh.


Now in its 11th year, Scottish NailTech enables nail technicians and artists to compete against their peers in 11 categories over two days.This year, for the first time, they will also compete to be crowned Scottish NailTech 2014 – the competitor who has the highest combined score fromall competitions.


“Winning this accolade will really raise an individual’s profile within the industry and open up manymore opportunities for them,” explains Scottish NailTech co-ordinator and GN editor


Melissa Dennis. “We know that somany of our entrants compete inmore than one category, and so the opportunity to be named overall winnermeans that their commitment to competing and full range of skills can be recognised.”


Competitors enteringmore than one category will be automatically entered to win Scottish NailTech 2014 at no additional cost, with the winner announced onMonday 24thMarch.
