SECTOR GUIDE: WHEELED TOYS JAKKS PACIFIC UK

Jakks Pacific UK is welcoming a new brand to its range of ride-ons next year in the form of Moose Mountains. The range covers a mixed

variety of pre-school entertainment licences and core pre-school heritage brands, with the price points starting at £9.99 with the Junior Wagons. The Wagons come in a

FIRSTBIKE

Firstbike, as the company name suggests, specialises in developing balance bikes, which help youngsters take their first trips on two wheels. The bikes are lightweight and

comfortable, meaning children can travel long distances without getting too tired. The bikes feature simple height adjustment and can grow with the child until they are ready for pedals. Models available from Firstbike include limited edition bikes with Schwalbe Big Apple tyres, providing maximum traction on any surface, plus Cross Bikes with air tyres suitable for off road conditions. Street Bikes are also available, which suit urban areas covering concrete, stone and packed dirt surfaces.

The company’s Simon Calvert tells

ToyNews: “For children, ride-on toys provide that thrill you get with movement and gives them the chance to imitate older children and adults. “The bike will remain ever popular with parents, too, who know how important it is to get kids out and about having fun.” www.firstbike.com

HY-PRO

The heart of Hy-Pro’s business is outdoor play and sports, and this year, bikes, scooters and skateboards remain a continued focus for the firm. Leading the charge for the company is the scooter brand Zinc, which has expanded its range to include two new inline scooters this year. The new products joining the line-up are the GTX-R and the Outlaw: both foldable scooters

are suitable for children aged five and above. The Zinc GTX-R is the first

folding inline scooter on the market with a real working speedometer. Children will stand out when riding as the scooter emits sparks when the brake is applied.

Riders can use the digital speedometer to measure distance and speed, as well as monitor progress and

performance. An adjustable handle bar, allows the scooter to suit any child’s height. The Zinc Outlaw scooter

features a real living flame effect close by the rear wheel, which glows when breaking. And building on this year, 2014 will see the launch of more new ranges from Zinc, which Hy-Pro is excited to reveal shortly. 01582 500846
