ANTIGUA


Renowned for its 365 beaches, Antigua and Barbuda rank among the most popular Caribbean holiday hot spots. The twin-island destination’s attractions range from its natural beauty to sites including Shirley Heights and heritage such as Nelson’s Dockyard, the world’s only remaining working Georgian dockyard. Antigua hosts regattas like Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta and Antigua’s Sailing week. Cricket fans can indulge in their favourite sport and may bump into Antiguan cricket legends Sir Vivian Richards and Richie Richardson. What’s new: Thomas Cook

ARUBA


The Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba lies 15 miles north of the South American coastline, and benefi ts from year-round sunshine, an average temperature of 32C and a cooling breeze. Located on the edge of the hurricane belt, a nine-mile stretch of award-winning pristine beach, turquoise seas, colonial Dutch architecture and a Latin vibe gives Aruba its unique feel. The back roads of Aruba take travellers past eerie rock formations, cacti and the famous divi-divi trees. What’s new: Earlier this year


Aruba became the fi rst island in the Caribbean to launch a free public tram service as part of an on-going plan to rejuvenate its capital, Oranjestad, and encourage more visitors to visit downtown. BAHAMAS
