Herne Hill hosts Keirin Festival
The UK’s only Keirin Festival took place at Herne Hill Velodrome in August, boasting a full day of racing, with music, food stalls, drink and the return of the summer sun following a deluge in previous days. The races consisted of Men’s Senior, Women’s and novice categories, with Brixton Cycles riders Sarah Connell and Sarah Connell dominating the women’s competition with Pedal Power’s Ishbel Taromsari (pictured). John Paul won out in the men’s racing, while the novice races saw Johnathon Crowther triumph. See the full results over at

TweedLove Bike Festival is to host the first ever UK round of the Enduro World Series next summer. Running over the weekend of May 31st and June 1st – the weekend before the Fort William World Cup – TweedLove is in its fourth year and takes place over three weekends, stretching across 30 separate events from cross country to kids events, road racing and film nights. To further ramp up next year’s event, TweedLove 2014 will feature in the Homecoming Scotland programme – a celebration of the country’s active pursuits and cycling heritage.

forward by the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group mirror those that we are already taking forward so we are ahead on some of the challenges which have been set for us… “Many of the measures identified as

good practice in other countries are already possible in Britain, for example fully segregated cycle lanes and providing a form of priority for cyclists at side roads. Decisions on how best to provide for cyclists on local roads are rightly matters for the local authority –
not only do they have a duty to balance the needs of all road users when considering how to design and manage their road networks, but they also have a detailed understanding of their roads.” An excerpt from the Government’s
official response to Get Britain Cycling, made before the (partially damning) Parliamentary debate.
