The world’s largest bicycle trade fair continues to expand, leaving us at BikeBiz feeling like it really is impossible to do the show justice. Mark Sutton toured the Zeppelin halls in search of some of the product set for shelves in 2014…


EUROBIKE ROUND UP


1,280 EXHIBITORS. That’s the task set out for the 1,883 journalists who travelled by plane, train, car and occasionally, bicycle to Friedrichshafen during August. With German chancellor Angela Merkel deeming the show significant enough to make an appearance, the show’s profile has arguably never been greater and on top of the 45,200 trade visitors, a further 20,400 consumers piled in towards the close of the event to ogle the product launches now reserved for the annual exhibition. As far as industry trends becoming apparent, as they often do during August, the 27.5 or 650b standard is now seemingly ubiquitous, having significantly overpowered the 29er and shunted the 26-inch wheel a step closer to becoming obsolete. Good news for a stagnant mountain bike market? Time will tell. Without further ado, let’s rattle through
