Clarks expands with new purpose-built warehouse
SET TO open during November, Clarks Cycle Systems has added a new purpose-built warehouse in the Midlands. “Being able to have constant and
available stock levels of our most popular products all under one roof will really enhance our customer service,” said Tony Wright, CEO of Clarks. “It will make a difference to our speed of
delivery, 24hrs in most cases. And we will also be able to remove the restriction of minimum order levels.” New technology plays a part in the
purpose-built design, with the brand having invested heavily in a state of the art warehouse management system. The new SAP enterprise resource planning system enables the business to effectively manage the stock within both the UK and European warehouse. The adoption of this leading edge management tool ensures the warehouse team can efficiently process orders leading to dramatic reductions in turnaround times. “The next step will be to complete the SAP integration with our web site. This will mean that all our distributors will be able log into their dedicated accounts, see real time stock availability, place orders and manage their accounts,” added Wright.
Further developments include the
creation of a new purpose-fitted Clarks Service Centre, which will also be located within the UK DC. The Service Centre team will deal with all product warranties from across Europe and have access to large stock levels of spare parts enabling a speedy
replacement service; typically within 24 hours of placing an order. Clarks are interviewed on page 83 of this
month's magazine, where you'll find out more about the firm's recruitment drive and new products, among other things
