While most of us like to be congratulated on our birthday, howshould aPAmark the occasion for their boss?

should mark the birthday of his/her family, all their team members and key persons within the company as well as key business contacts. If the boss is froman Asian country, they will be relatively conservative. Their PA would mark the occasion only for his/her team members and close/key colleagues. Most of the time, I prepare a gift and organise an office party formyboss’ birthday. I rarely arrange a dinner for him as he prefers to celebrate with his family in the evening.

is a cake cutting. If a person is on leavewe just send a bouquet and a message. However, if my boss is on leave I arrange a bouquet and a cake to be sent to his place and tell everyone to send him greetings.

probably suffice. But if your relationship is more friendly and you know that your boss would not cringe at public recognition, then buying a cake for the office to share is a great way for an impromptu office gathering.
