SHANGHAI On the Puxi side of the Huangpu River, Jing An Shangri-La has opened in West Shanghai. The 508-room hotel is the centrepiece of the new 450,000sq.m. Jing An Kerry Centre. On the fifth level of the centre is the Jing An Grand Ballroom. At 1743sq.m., it is the largest ballroom in West Shanghai, and features a 10m.-high ceiling decorated with glass rods, crystal panels and floating crystal clouds.

Conference organisers seeking something fresh around Shanghai should head to Sheshan National Travel & Holiday Area on the city’s western fringe. Two attractions in this area offer a point

SHENYANG Grand Hyatt Shenyang has opened in a new 29-storey tower on Qingnian Avenue (known as the “Golden Corridor”). It offers more than 3430sq.m. of meeting and event space spanning the third and fourth floors. The centrepiece venue is the 1022sq.m. Grand Ballroom with an 8m.-high ceiling and feature windows.


SHENYANG Shangri-La Hotel, Shenyang has opened alongside Traders Hotel, Shenyang. Drawing inspiration from Shenyang’s Imperial Palace, the Shangri-La has 424 guest rooms with panoramic city views. The Horizon Club Lounge on the 30th floor has picture windows and a meeting room. The hotel has 4115sq.m. of meeting space over two floors. The main ballroom, pillarless and covering 1900sq.m., has a 9m.-high ceiling and foyer with floor-to-ceiling-windows overlooking Qing Nian Park and the hotel’s landscaped garden. It is the largest hotel ballroom in north-east China. There are seven meeting rooms, with those on level four have natural light and city views. One has a 3015sq.m. garden terrace.


WUJIN DusitD2 Fudu Binhu Hotel Changzhou has opened in Jiangsu Province. It is the Thai company’s first property in China, and has views over West Taihu Lake. It is in the Wujin Hi-Tech Industrial Zone and has four meeting rooms and a pillarfree ballroom.

Appointed as a hotel for the APEC Summit in October, Ayana Resort & Spa has expanded its ballroom and added more meeting rooms. A private courtyard garden is flanked by six new break-out rooms, including a classroom-style auditorium with tiered seating for 150 people and the latest touch-screen technology. One of the new venues is a 22-seat VIP boardroom.
