Kochhar bolsters IP practice

the intellectual Neeraj Grover being one of

Grover has the distinction of the very few IP practitioners in
India who have handled litigation in diverse areas of law including criminal law (especially white collar crimes) commercial law, cyber law, general civil law, arbitration, etc.
In addition, he regularly represents client on all facets of IP law including prosecutions, criminal enforcement actions and complex litigations relating to trademarks, copyright, patents and design and has brought with him extensive experience of 14 years in IP litigation. He was independently practicing as an arguing counsel before merging his practice with Kochhar & Co. and had also been the of-counsel for ZeusIP, a boutique IP law firm.

Spoor launches IP app
South African law firm Spoor & Fisher has launched an IP application for iPad and iPhone.
Te app will provide free information about IP in South Africa, including frequently asked questions. It
will also list country-specific
information about IP registration requirements across the continent, and feature a search function for conducting patent searches at the South African Patent Office.
An Android app is in development and will be launched later this year.
Duane Morris LLP adds to trial practice group
Duane Morris LLP has appointed Steven Cowley to the trial practice group at the firm’s Boston office.

Cowley, who has experience in IP litigation
including trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation, has
handled arbitration proceedings in state and federal courts and before arbitration panels throughout the US.
His clients include technology, manufacturing and financial services companies and private equity and venture capital firms.
Cowley, who will join the firm as a partner, earned his JD in 1989 from Harvard Law School. He is the fourth lawyer to join the firm in two months and previously worked for Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP.

EIP welcomes new attorney to newly-opened US office
UK law firm EIP has expanded its newly-opened office in San Diego with the hire of attorney Cynthia Arko.

Arko, who joined on August 14, is a registered US patent attorney and will be part of the
firm’s San Diego office, which was opened by EIP in May 2013.
Arko, who previously worked for TechLaw LLP and Knobbe Martens, both in San Diego, becomes the first attorney to be hired at the office.
She is a specialist in patents for acoustic, mechanical, medical and optical devices and advises clients on patentability,
freedom to
operate, infringement and validity but also has experience in trademark law.
Phillip Bennett, partner and head of the San Diego office, said the appointment tied in with an “exciting first few months for EIP in San Diego”.
“Cynthia possesses unique and wide-ranging legal skills which will enable EIP to continue to deliver excellent service to our clients,” he said.

Marval O’Farrell & Mairal elevates associate to partner
Argentinian law firm Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal has promoted senior associate Martín Chajchir to partner.

Chajchir joined the firm in 2002. He specialises in the enforcement of IP rights, with
a focus on trademarks, domain names and industrial models and designs.
His practice areas include anti-counterfeiting, IP litigation, domain name recovery and out-of-court claims. He has experience in pre-trial mediation proceedings, conducting negotiations agreements.

He has been a speaker in seminars on trademark litigation issues in Argentina, and is a member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association, the International Association for the Protection of IP, and the International Trademark Association (INTA), where he serves as a member of the INTA Bulletin’s Law & Practice Latin American and the Caribbean subcommittee.
