Top-class supporting programme Besides the exhibition proper, the supporting

programme is an important, essential component of GDS. Numerous experts provide information about the latest footwear industry trends and issues at the Speakers’ Corner while trade visitors have an opportunity to get up to speed on various industry topics and get a preview of upcoming trends for the 2014 S/S and 2014/2015 A/W seasons. In addition, APICCAPS – the Portuguese footwear industry association – will present the latest edition of the World Footwear Yearbook jointly with GDS, as well as supply the sector with critical market data.

Stuart Weitzman and Michael Kors enter the kidwalk The kidwalk area, fresh off the redesign for the

last GDS event, has convinced many children’s footwear providers. Praise was heard mostly for the clear and well-defined ambiance and for the repositioning of kidwalk as a concept area. Besides renowned exhibitors such as Däumling, Richter, Garvalin, Bisgaard, Falc and Primigi, the children’s footwear collections by star designers Michael Kors and Stuart Weitzman will also be seen at GDS for the first time. Other new additions will include Romagnoli Rondinella from Italy, Beppi from Portugal, Conguitos from Spain and Shiner Heelys from Great Britain. With the addition of Minimen a Turkish label will also be represented at the kidwalk for the first time. And finally, two French labels – Babybotte and Pom D´Api – will make a comeback.

Design Attack with BAHAMA MAMA The hipster Design Attack area in Hall 3 offers a

stage for about 100 design newcomers. Each season they surprise us with a new theme. This time visitors and exhibitors will be whisked away to a Caribbean beach paradise. The new "BAHAMA MAMA” theme was inspired by the Bahamas. It stands for summer, sun and relaxation. In the midst of palm trees and white sand, Design Attack will recreate the lively hustle and bustle of a Caribbean market with fresh fruit and yummy cocktails as far as the eye can see.

The new duration from 10 to 13 September 2013

will give market players the opportunity to do so during GLOBAL SHOES. Approx. 340 exhibitors from the 12 countries most relevant to global shoe trade will again be presented in Düsseldorf at the forthcoming GLOBAL SHOES using the changed running time to present their ranges to the buyers coming from all over the world. Exhibitors such as Dotan Ruimy of Y.Jessi from Guangzhou, China, look forward to this change with high expectations. “We love the idea of having the fair run for 4 days, as it presents so many opportunities for everyone. Now we have an extended timeframe to fully work, which is extremely helpful timing wise. As it will now run for 4 days, the customer now has the time to review all of the halls and find more suppliers, ideas and trends. This gives them time to get a full grasp on what suppliers have to offer and make an informed decision, after having seen everything what is relevant to their business.

New Running Time for GLOBAL SHOES! Global Shoes – the leading trade show for

sourcing - will kick off the next event in September 2013 with a new running time concept. A day was added to the duration in response to the request increasingly voiced by the market to be able to take the proper purchasing decisions with sufficient time for conversations and market surveys.

As it’s the last fair of the season, the customer

can take his time in order to make the final and correct decisions for his business.” says Dotan Ruimy, Owner of Y. Jessi from Guangzhou, China.

Mr Xu Rongjin from Yiwu Nianfa Import &

Export Co. Ltd from YIWU Zhejiang, China also rated the event’s longer running time positively: “We are very delighted to know that this year the GLOBAL SHOES Fair will last for four days, one day more than it used to be. We really appreciate this decision. We are confident that we can prepare more samples and have more opportunity to meet the customers. We are sure that we can receive a more accomplishing result and wish this year’s fair a big success.”

GLOBAL SHOES’ prime feature is its variety of

producers that you can generally only find at the Düsseldorf fair in Europe. This means the fair is very well geared to the market and once again underlines its importance as a leading fair for volume suppliers and OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). Alongside China, the country with the most exhibitors, producers from Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Turkey and the USA are traditional exhibitor nations at the fair.

GDS – international event for shoes & accessories will continue to run for three days and will be held from 11 to 13 September 2013.
