t's a problem being a diva in the fashion world! I would like to say that the problem arose from jet lag after doing photo shoots in exotic locations in the Caribbean and the South Seas or I have a headache because the champagne they were serving at the
glittering, star-studded reception was bog-standard Dom Perignon and not Cristal to which I am now so accustomed.
No, the problem I have is that the fashion world is in a time warp: it is months ahead of the rest of the world. They have to come up with ideas, test them, make them, run them up and down the catwalk and then stock the shops. I don't get to do the catwalk, not that I don't have the capabilities, you understand, it’s just that no one has ever asked me.
Road testing shoes is not so glamorous I am afraid. And, what happens is that I get shoes to test in the season ahead of when they will be sold. So I get long, fur-lined leather boots in July so, if truth be told, my reports about the comfort and how well they are made are true, but I have to use my imagination in writing about their leg-warming properties.
Last February I came home to find a courier had left a box for me.
Because I was out when he called he left the parcel in the woodshed. If you cast your mind back to February it will probably send an icy shiver down your spine.
I opened the box to find a pair of Aetrex Berries Bungees.
They looked good, but I thought, "well, I can't give these shoes a good report until I’ve warmed up enough to try them." So, I put the shoes in back in the box and went back to make a cup of tea.
A little while later, when the tea had warmed me and the central
heating had warmed up the house, I tried the shoes. I found that not only were the shoes are divinely soft and supple, but that they are light as feathers, its almost possible to think you are walking barefoot.

of shoes to test from a company that highlights their healthy aspects. In my mind's eye I see grannies and grandpas shuffling around their care homes in "uber-sensible shoes".
